Adam Green: Autotopia
Book Launch
Join us at Desert Island Books for the launch of Autotopia, the final installment in Adam Green’s unofficial graphic novel trilogy! This special launch event will feature Green and fellow illustrators Tom Bayne and Toby Goodshank in a Q&A with attendees. Books will be for sale at the event, with all authors signing books following the talk.
In Autotopia, the story of Hanukkah is reborn as a metaphysical tech-satire in which ketamine mysticism collides with crypto and fetish inside a simulated New Amsterdam. Greenster—Green’s longtime alter ego—enters a VR metaverse overtaken by Antiochis, a tyrannical businesswoman overlord, and joins a rebel tribe of Ketamites led by Rabbi Bagelheart. Reuniting fan-favorite characters from Green’s Aladdin, including Ms. President and Farmer Dave, Autotopia is both a delirious sequel and spiritual reboot, culminating in a symbolic rededication of temple, marriage, and the stories we tell ourselves. Edited by Yasmin Green, this epic tale weaves together poetic and humorous psychedelia, human love, and Green’s mythological “Houseface” universe.
Autotopia is published by Pioneer Works Press. Publishing at Pioneer Works includes our imprint, Pioneer Works Press, and magazine, Pioneer Works Broadcast.
Adam Green is an artistic polymath—a songwriter, filmmaker, visual artist, and poet—whose work blends fleshy humor, heartbreak, and metaphysical surrealism into a genre all his own. As co-founder of the antifolk band The Moldy Peaches, he helped define a generation of raw, emotionally candid music that continues to resonate globally. His art has been exhibited in galleries across the U.S., Europe, and Asia, including a landmark show at the Fondation Beyeler in Basel. He has directed two full-length movies—The Wrong Ferarri (2010), the first feature film shot entirely on an iPhone, and Aladdin (2016), the hand-built fantasy epic which Buzzfeed called “the trippiest movie ever made.” His recent work explores the interconnected mythology of his “Houseface” universe through poetry books and graphic novels, developing a distinct narrative world that spans disciplines and defies boundaries.
Tom Bayne is an animator, director, illustrator, and editor who has spent over two decades working on prominent animated series, indie art projects, and music videos.
Musician and visual artist Toby Goodshank made his high-profile musical debut playing acoustic guitar in The Moldy Peaches. He enjoys a prolific solo career, having recorded 14 albums in a five-year span and touring Europe with artists including Jeffrey Lewis and Kimya Dawson. He co-founded the 3MB art collective with Adam Green and Macaulay Culkin. He recently toured the U.S. as a support act for Har Mar Superstar and The Pizza Underground.
